Thanks for showing your interest in knowing more about me.
I’m Prasanta Sarkar. I am the author of Garment Manufacturing: Processes, Practices and Technology and the person behind this blog. I have also written and published these books.
I hold a B.Tech in Textile Engineering from the Government College of Engineering and Textile Technology (Serampore, India) and a Post Graduate degree in Fashion Technology from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT, New Delhi).

Professional Background & Experience
My career started on the factory floor, working with a major garment export house in Gurgaon, India. Later, I joined an apparel consultancy firm where I led diverse operational projects. Throughout my career across India and Bangladesh, I have worked with numerous apparel manufacturers and conducted specialized training programs in:
- Industrial Engineering (IE) & Lean Manufacturing
- Quality Management Systems
- Sewing Operator Training & Skill Development
I have led projects focused on shop-floor productivity, quality control, manufacturing execution systems (MIS), and new factory setup. A major part of my technical expertise includes implementing the Blue Cherry Shop Floor Control (SFC) system—an RFID-based production tracking solution—in factories across India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Cambodia, Egypt, Turkey, and Bulgaria.
Currently, I work with CGS Inc. as Manager of Service Delivery. In this role, I manage RFID-based shop-floor monitoring implementations and lead MIS report development for apparel manufacturing clients globally.
