How to Reduce Style Changeover Time (COT) in Garment Manufacturing
May 10, 2023
Style Changeover Time is the time between the last piece output of the previous style from the last machine of a line and the first piece output of the next style from the last machine of the line. It means if Style-A was running on a line and its last piece was out of line at 12:30:35 PM. Simultaneously, a new Style-B was fed in line, and its first piece reached (passed) output at 14:30:35 PM. The time duration for which there was no output will be called COT (changeover time) or Style Changeover Time.
Cost of Quality in Garment Manufacturing and Its Calculation Method
Quality is the degree to which an object or entity (e.g., process, product, or service) satisfies a specified set of attributes or requirements. It is understood that quality control functions are non-value adding to the product, but they are essential to honor our commitment towards customers. Hence, we have a quality system in our organization. The cost of quality is the collective spending to satisfy your customers or to achieve the required attributes.
Check the Health of a Garment Factory by Measuring Cost Per Minute (CPM)
In the present scenario, it is very important to have real-time information about the health of your factory. Health of a Factory means the performance of vital business KPIs against they were planned. Garment factories follow some guidelines/measures/scales against which their performance is measured. In this post, we will see how garment factories can measure the health of the factory through the Cost-per-Minute calculation and analysis.
How to Check the Health of a Garment Unit by Measuring Manufacturing Cost per Piece
Cost per piece is the total cost incurred by a factory for producing a garment. It is a KPI used to monitor profit/loss in order execution. It is highly applicable in factories that are doing job work. In that case, they are paid the Cost of making, which includes cutting, sewing, finishing, and packing. Trim cost is also included sometimes if the vendor is responsible for ordering trim.
