I am happy to share that my new book, Production Planning and Control in Apparel Manufacturing: Processes, Tools, and Practical Applications, is now officially published and available for readers.
Production Planning and Control (PPC) has always been a subject close to me. My professional journey began in a production planning department, and over the years, I have had the opportunity to work with production planning teams and visit apparel manufacturing facilities in several countries, including Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Egypt, Turkey, Indonesia, Mauritius, and Cambodia.
These experiences helped me understand that production planning practices can vary significantly from one factory to another. The structure of the planning department, the planning tools used, and the way orders are managed may differ based on factory size, production capacity, product type, business model, and buyer requirements. However, the fundamental principles of production planning remain largely the same.
I wrote this book to share practical knowledge about these principles and their application in garment manufacturing.
The book covers important areas of production planning and control, including production capacity, production scheduling, line loading, Time and Action (T&A) planning, order execution, production control, planning tools, technology, performance measurement, and problem-solving. It also discusses the organizing, coordination, and communication skills that production planners need to manage their daily responsibilities effectively.
One of my key objectives was to present these topics in plain and practical language. The book is intended not only for experienced professionals but also for new production planners, apparel manufacturing students, merchandisers, industrial engineers, production managers, and others who want to develop a better understanding of PPC.
The book is based on practical industry experience and focuses on how planning concepts are applied in real manufacturing environments. It includes planning procedures, examples, calculations, tools, and practical approaches that readers can use in their professional work.
I believe effective production planning can make a significant difference to factory performance. Good planning helps factories make better use of available capacity, reduce delays, improve coordination, control production more effectively, and support on-time shipment.
I am grateful to everyone who supported me throughout the writing and publication of this book, including my colleagues, industry professionals, mentors, family, and friends. I am also thankful to Dr. Prabir Jana for writing the Foreword. I am grateful to Sanjay Yadav, who gave me the opportunity to begin my career in PPC by hiring me for a production planning role in his company. I am also thankful to Dr. Rajesh Bheda and the CGS management team, especially Mihaela Coapsi and Jithendra Battu, for involving me in various projects and implementation initiatives across apparel manufacturing companies. Their support and the opportunities I received to work on different projects have contributed greatly to my professional learning and experience.
The book is now available through Amazon.in, Flipkart, and Amazon.com.
