The INDIAsize initiative, conceptualized by the Ministry of Textiles (MoT) and executed by National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), was carried out in close collaboration with industry partner Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI). This landmark initiative represents India’s largest and most comprehensive anthropometric research project to date.
The survey involved 3D whole-body scanning of over 26,000 individuals across 22 locations in six major cities, generating a scientifically robust sizing system tailored specifically to the diverse body proportions of the Indian population.
Comprehensive and Scientifically Developed Size Charts
The study has resulted in 27 standardized body size charts:
- 13 charts for women
- 14 charts for men
These charts are developed across three height groups and five body shapes, ensuring accurate representation of Indian body diversity and providing a strong foundation for product design, fit optimization, and standardization.
