Introducing Seamstream: The AI Tool Transforming Garment Costing and BOM Generation

OB generation using Manny AI

MannyAI announces the beta launch of Seamstream on 17th July, a powerful new AI tool designed to help apparel manufacturers generate Bills of Materials (BOM) and Operation Breakdowns (OB) instantly - thereby supporting quicker alignment on pricing between brand and factories.

In every industry, we're witnessing a profound shift in how humans and AI collaborate — moving beyond simple conversation into task delegation and outcome-driven partnership. Seamstream is the first in a suite of tools by MannyAI built to support the fashion supply chain to get to customer-driven demand production. Our vision is for MannyAI to become an indispensable co-pilot for sourcing, buying, and manufacturing teams, starting with the most pressurised and time-sensitive task of all: costing.

Why Now?

The apparel manufacturing sector is experiencing unprecedented pressure on multiple fronts. Factories face mounting demands to accelerate costing processes while maintaining accuracy, even as the specialized industrial engineering expertise required for precise BOM calculations becomes more expensive. Simultaneously, the rise of fast fashion and personalized apparel has led to smaller order quantities and explosive SKU proliferation, making traditional manual costing methods economically unsustainable.

"The convergence of these challenges has created more pressure for manufacturers," said Shruti Grover, CEO at Seamstream. "Factories that once relied on experienced industrial engineers to manually calculate costs for large, standardized orders now must process hundreds of unique variations with shrinking expert resources."

Seamstream tackles this head-on.

What is Seamstream?

Seamstream is an AI-driven First-Pass Cost Estimator, auto-generated from a tech pack. It calculates:

  • A bottom-up BOM — including fabrics, linings, interfacing, labels, and trims.
  • An operation breakdown — estimating the SMV (Standard Minute Value) for each construction step, based on garment type.

This delivers a realistic cost range in seconds, slashing negotiation cycles between brands and suppliers. Seamstream currently supports hoodies, sweatshirts, joggers, and shirts, with more categories being added based on partner demand. Factories can train the system with their own historical data and soon will be able to:

  • List available machinery, tailoring the construction sequence to their actual line setup.
  • Input their own trims, fabrics, and prices, so costing reflects real stock availability.

Our proprietary engine is built on a database of over 11,000 elements, blending expert knowledge with image-based reasoning to detect construction details from uploaded images and tech packs.

An Alternative to GSD

Large factories have long relied on GSD (General Sewing Data), but onboarding is slow, requires video analysis, and comes with heavy licensing costs. Seamstream offers a faster, more accessible, and AI-native alternative that anyone can start using — from micro-factories to global enterprises.

Join the Beta

We’re now accepting beta testers — factories, costing teams, and sourcing offices — who want to shape the future of AI-assisted production. Early testers have already contributed feedback, such as enabling the AI to auto-generate questions and emails to customers when details are missing, saving back-and-forth for both sides. Attend the upcoming webinar to see the product in action and learn how you can get early access — Register here.
