About Me

Hi, I’m Prasanta Sarkar. I am the author of Garment Manufacturing: Processes, Practices and Technology and person behind this blog.

I am a Textile Engineer and NIFT alumnus. I did Post Graduate in Fashion Technology from National Institute of Fashion Technology, New Delhi. and B. Tech from College of Textile Technology, Serampore.


I have worked in a garment exports house in Gurgaon, near the Capital of India. I have also worked with an apparel consultancy firm as a consultant.

I have visited many garment manufacturing companies in India and Bangladesh and conducted no. of training programs on industrial engineering, quality management and sewing operator training. I did project implementation on productivity improvement, quality improvement, development of factory MIS systems, plant start-up and many more.

At present I am associated with CGS Inc, an IT company as operations engineer and doing projects on implementation of RFID based shop floor monitoring systems in garment manufacturing companies. I am also involved in MIS report development.

I am doing full time job and write articles in my spare time. Most of topics published here are based on questions asked by OCS readers.
